E-volv

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

The First-mile Last-mile issue occurs when someone is further than comfortable walking distance from home to transit. Research has shown this to be a common problem here in Melbourne. Approximately 50% of its population live in the outer suburbs. Those of which experience lower levels of service and accessibility to public transport and longer travel times compared to inner city residents. Thus, the populations preferred method of travel is by car. According to the most recent census in Greater Melbourne, 74.4% of people travelled to work in a private car, while only 13.4% took public transport. e-volv is a project designed to incentivise people in this situation to look to cheaper more sustainable modes of transportation. This is to be accomplished through the design of an inexpensive micro-electro vehicle. One that meets the needs and expectations of customers with poor accessibility to public transport. That is, it must be able to rapidly fold to a small enough size that comfortably fits in the limited size constraints of public transportation. By creating an alluring, user friendly experience, this project will help make an impact on reducing carbon emissions and road congestion across major cities worldwide.
