Dunham Walk: no audio.mp4

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Experimental footage from my time in Puerto Rico last November 2020, using the Dunham walk (halftime variation)to descend a steep sidewalk from the town square in Guayama. This coastal city is located on the southern tip of the island and is also the birthplace of my late father.

The Dunham Walk was birthed from Miss Dunham’s examination of women traveling up and down the mountainous terrains of Haiti carrying goods to sell or retrieve from the center of town. Often, these women would travel with several baskets on their heads, bags in their hands, and children in tow avoiding rocks or obstructions in their path without dropping a single item. The Dunham walk is the utmost test of grace, knowledge of self, balance, strength, and beauty.

Furthermore , this clip examines Form and Function, one of three theoretical models found in the Dunham technique that explores the relationship between the structure and purpose behind movement.

Filming by my best friend and Multidisciplinary Artist, Bree Gant.
