Let’s first look at a study of Pharmacokinetics of an orally delivered (ingested) CBD capsule formulation assessed in humans.

First; we must understand that the absorption of CBD from the gastrointestinal tract is erratic, resulting in a variable pharmacokinetic profile …

Then the study showed that bioavailability from oral delivery (capsules) was estimated to be 6% due to significant first-pass metabolism – [note that CBD gummies and beverages are similar]

So here is the net result of swallowing a 25mg CBD soft-gel capsule:

First; It was found that,, delivery of less than a staggering 2.5mg CBD was available for the body to use…

Therefore the relative cost to consumer is 10 times for bioavailable CBD…

That means a bottle of CBD capsules selling for $60 has an effective price of $600… Ouch

This next study has to do with Chewing gum with infused Caffeine

We will take a look at “The Rate of Absorption and Relative Bioavailability of Caffeine Administered in Chewing Gum Versus Capsules to Normal Healthy Volunteers.”

This information comes from a publication by [Kamimori, et al, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 234 (1), p.159-167, March 2002]

They found that caffeine (100mg) in a chewing gum was absorbed at a significantly faster rate (five times) with bioavailability comparable to ingested caffeine capsules of over 80%…

Chewing gum is a convenient and effective means of rapidly administering caffeine as shown for military and exercise activities ,,,

This same study could apply to CBD in chewing gum

So what does all this have to do with CBD and the delivery of its medicinal benefits?
