Dish’n Dames Interview with Chef Lisa Watel

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Born in Santiago, Chile, this week’s Dish’n Dames feature, Lisa Watel, did not always plan on a career in the culinary scene.

Always a fashionista, she was drawn to the artistry and passion of the fashion industry and explored sketching haute couture designs until she realized that her obsession with creating stunning designs became rivaled by her approach with cooking and plating both delicious and visually stunning cuisine.

She soon realized she was more fulfilled with the artistry associated with the culinary arts versus fashion arts and obtained a Culinary Arts degree from the Art Institute of Houston.

During her culinary career, Lisa has traveled the world, trying international cuisine and adding her own flair. And, she even spent nine years as the private chef for actor Tommy Lee Jones and his family. She and her husband and business partner, Damien Watel, now run Bistr09, offering classic French brasserie cuisine in San Antonio’s Alamo Heights neighborhood.
