Chaeleon Accessories – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Chameleon accessories were designed with a closed-loop life cycle in mind. They support sustainability in fashion by thinking about the environmental impact of our physical designs. Chameleon accessories are made out of biodegradable foam whose ingredients came from industrial by-products. They change color when they are worn. Each accessory in the collection has heat and UV sensing capabilities embedded in the material. Thus, the accessories themselves become visible and tangible sensors by changing color. The sensing capabilities in the material were achieved by using biocompatible thermochromic and photochromic pigments that were added to the biofoam in the fabrication process. The collection has a closed life cycle because the ingredients used to make the accessories came from industrial waste that otherwise would have ended up in the landfill generating greenhouse and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the waste generated during the accessories’ prototyping process can be reused and re-cooked to make new biofoam and accessories. Chameleon Accessories challenge the creation of more sustainable wearables and promote the use of current industry waste to make wearables.
