Carbon Negative Sunglasses Offer View to Net Zero: BNEF Suit Munich 2022 – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

German startup Made of Air is aiming to reverse climate change through its so-called carbon negative materials, “turning manufactured goods into engineered carbon sinks”.

The company uses wood waste and combines it with bioplastic “to create a thermoplastic compound,” said Neema Shams, chief commercial officer of Made of Air, at the BloombergNEF Summit in Munich. “We gear this towards a wide range of durable products, including building products, car parts and other long-lasting plastic applications.”

Made of Air has already partnered with fashion retailer H&M to create sunglasses, but the built environment is where the company sees the most opportunity to scale up, according to Shams. He was interviewed on May 24, 2022.
