In Breaking NewsBREAKING: META To Start Mass Sacking This WeekMeta is planning to begin mass sackings that will affect thousands of workers from this week, adding to the mounting job losses across Silicon Valley. Following on from last weeks cull of employees from Twitter, by Elon Musk.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Facebook owner could start the layoffs as soon as Wednesday. It has already instructed employees to cancel any non-essential travel beginning this week.

Meta declined to confirm this report, but a spokesperson pointed out comments made late last month by Mark Zuckerberg, Meta chief executive.

He stated that in 2023, the company would focus its investments on a few high-priority areas of growth. This means that some teams will grow in a meaningful way, while others will shrink or stay the same over the next year.

Meta’s value last month was $270bn, down from more than $1tn one year ago.
