Battling Stereotye and Stiga- A conversation on Cultural Aroriation – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

We must all be conscious of the world around us, the people, their stories, their culture and learn to understand them. Respectful, authentic and socially correct representation matters now, more than ever. This panel is a starting point for conversation around cultural appropriation in the arts, media, and beyond. Together, we can educate ourselves to not only consume, but also create in a way that respects the integrity and boundaries of a culture, without succumbing to the stereotypes and stigmas around them.

Siddhi Daga is a 5th year fashion design student specializing in Sportswear, with a double minor in art history and economics as well as being a Cultural Fellow at FIT.

Sara Paci Picolo is an Italy/Swiss Art and Fashion Historian, Adjunct professor, and a study abroad program and Italian Universities Coordinator.

Kyungshee Pyun is an Associate Professor at Fashion design Institute of Technology.

Papa Oppong is a MFA Fashion Design major and a Cultural Fellow at FIT.

Valerie See is currently a sophomore in Fashion Business Management at FIT, with a minor in Asian Studies.
