Barn Fight – Road Music – Memphis, TN

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Road Music: Chapter One, Memphis.

I made this song parked in the RV at the corner of North Claybrook Street and Court Avenue in midtown Memphis.

A few moments earlier I’d been driving the rig down highway 40. It was the middle of a weekday though, and I had work to do necessitating putting a suit on my top half and firing up the computer.

I also wanted pho, and based on my GMaps scrolling on the approach, this was a good area to get it. After I banged out some virtual court appearances, Henry and I got out to stretch our legs and take some pictures.

There’s quite a few vietnamese restaurants in Memphis actually, more than ten by my count. I ended up going with the concisely named ‘Vietnam Restaurant’ on Cleveland Street. And it was good. They have chili paste right at the table without having to ask for it, which is always a good sign.

After pho I waddled back to the rig and worked on the song for a few hours, as people screamed out on the street about respect, and what it meant.

On the way out of town the boy and I stopped at an abandoned lot next to a pond. Shelled-out cars were turned on their sides and stacked on top of each other in a strangely beautiful decaying symmetry. I fired up ol’ Drony Soprano and got a few shots while Henry cooled his underbelly in pond water. I never liked drones particularly, but it’s nice to be able to get a birds-eye and see things in a different way.

Was tempted to bed down here for the night but decided to press on for a few more hours..
