This season RaspberryPlum kids collection takes a nostalgic look at the elaborate style of vintage US country music scene, combined with the romantic softness of the American West during the late 19th century. Rhinestone Cowboy meets Little House on the Prairie.

So-called Nudie Suits by Nudie Cohen played a big role in this collection. These suits were originally made famous by such stars as Dolly Parton, Elton John, Elvis and Liberace. For the first time, we introduce tailoring, in the form of 70s style suits featuring embroideries and appliqués inspired by Nudie suits. Graphics such as buffalo heads, stars, horses, horseshoes, and guitars embellished with flowers are a direct link to 50s and 60s country and western music fashion.

The silhouettes of the dresses and blouses were inspired by the American West of the late 19th century. Long elegant lines, opulent fabric layers, a mixture of cohesive floral prints, engineered frills, all channel the style of the 80s TV program Little House of the Prairie. American quilts, which were very prevalent at the time, inspired a major print of the collection which is featured on a quilted midi coat as well cotton poplin dresses and blouses.

The colour palette was influenced by late 19th-century American quilts with a bit of 60s candy sweetness. Tulle dresses are something that RaspberryPlum is known for and this season they come with a bang. Elegant maxi glitter dresses in gold and blue are the stars of the rodeo. Berets with gold bows all over and graphic socks enhance the whole look.

This is a very eclectic, lavish collection, but non-he-less it creates a cohesive story through colour, texture, and shape.
