Today, we meet Hassan Hajjaj in Marrakech, Morocco. Born in 1961, Hajjaj’s practice is influenced by the club, hip-hop, and reggae scenes of London as well as by his North African heritage, revealing his capacity to blend together British and Moroccan cultures.

A self-taught and versatile artist, Hajjaj’s work cuts across several mediums including portraiture, installation, performance, fashion, and video. Through this work, he investigates and contributes to the ongoing narrative of Moroccan and North African artists.
