Ark Life: Breathing in Deeply

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Chant:
We are the water, the birds and the sky.
We are the land, and, the bees as they fly.
Taste the salt water, that streams from our eyes.
We’re breathing in deeply, the polluted skies.

Collaborating artist Paul Murnaghan composed a new score as a vital soundtrack to the Ark Life project. This piece will travel with the parade as participants celebrate biodiversity in the city, donning wearable sculptures created through the workshop programme.

We actively encourage participants to learn the score, especially the kazoo section to play on regular or homemade instruments!

Paul Murnaghan’s work examines the substance of belief. Content is gathered through various experiments, public projects and utopian quests. The results of these endeavors can be of an ethereal nature, though the form of expression is never fixed. His projects rarely happen without other people and the generosity of exchange. For ‘Ark Life’, Murnaghan will write music for different stages of the Parade.

Solo exhibitions include, ‘All mountains are moving’ at Limerick City Gallery of Art and ‚Penumbra‘ at The Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. Group shows include the 3rd Biennial of International Video Art at The Hong-Gah Museum in Taiwan and MOPE (performance) at The Kunsti Museum of Modern Art in Finland. He has released several recordings under the moniker ‘WolloW’ and he was commissioned by Channel 4 in London to create a video/sound work for the art show ‘Random Acts’. Between 2000 and 2012 he curated approximately thirty exhibitions in Ireland. Murnaghan is a recipient of several Arts Council Awards and has been a resident artist at The International Studio & Curatorial Program in Brooklyn, New York and Platform, Finland. He has exhibited extensively, including numerous international group shows, with solo exhibitions in Finland, Estonia, Germany, United States and Ireland.
