Are you in the Way? – Acts 9:1-20

Some of us may have a rough time in life while others seem to float easy and blessed. Jesus has been watching out to catch us, to encounter him, on whatever road we are traveling on. Just like Paul, a single encounter with him can transform us from the inside out.

When Jesus Christ died, Christians were scattered and some went to Damascus. When Saul heard about it, he wanted to hunt them, arrest them, and bring them back to Jerusalem. But with one encounter with Jesus in the road to Damascus, Saul of Tarsus, transformed from being a hater of Christians, and become Paul, one of the most important figures in Christianity.

So many themes this week – persecution, fears, blindness both spiritual and literal are all the events of Acts 9 – some real excitement and suspense – so read ahead and be ready for the introduction to a new character Saul – who we have met but now we get to know. This same Saul becomes Paul and the writer of many New Testament books.
