The founders of Anemurium, around 800 years before Jesus Christ, had chosen an ideal location to settle, at the southern tip of Anatolia, facing Cyprus. However, this location made people jealous and the inhabitants were forced to leave this place some 1600 years later, with the repeated attacks of the Arabs in the region. Excavations undertaken in the 1960s reveal the ruins of a prosperous city, but above all those of a magnificent necropolis where we can still see more than 350 vaults, some of which have 2 floors and others with an interior courtyard.
