About Time is an interactive experience that features the ‘Silk Brocade Court Dress’ made by Unknown in England, c.1760. Lady Collingwood is thought to have worn this sack-back open robe, which was the most popular and long-lasting clothing style for stylish and noblewomen in the 18th century. This installation will take place in a private space around MAAS in order to obtain a sense of peace while reminiscing about the past. Everyone is welcome to experience travel through time, connect to the past, and spark curiosity and excitement. It employs 3D holographic projection to bring the experience of getting dressed like a woman in the 18th century a reality. The technology feature offers the visitor an opportunity to personalise their own dress and take a selfie. The data then will be transferred into the 3D holographic projection displaying their faces appearing wearing the customised Silk Brocade Court Dress of their choice. Following that, the visitor will be given an imaginative experience through a role-play in which they will be portrayed as a Lady being dressed by a maid for the King’s Birthday Ball. The conversation will include a brief history of the dress. At the end of the installation, the visitor can save the experience in the form of a photo or video to create a memory that they can keep that they had experienced wearing a historical dress by sharing it via social media or email.
