Abandoned Takanassee Hotel Pool in Fleischmanns, New York

This was a case of my shooting the wrong abandoned pool for a client. But I thought it had enough historical value that I’d use the footage anyway.

The Takanassee Hotel and Country Club was built in 1922 and closed down in the late 1950’s. It was one of many Catskills resorts that saw its decline as increasing post-war affluence and the availability of air travel made more exotic vacation destinations accessible. It was located in Fleischmanns, Delaware County, New York State, United States of America.

The pool is all that’s left of the resort today. Abandoned, unused, and unmaintained, it’s basically a mosquito farm.
