Aai – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Through our project: Amai, we tried to implant our values (design global, local manufacture, upcycling, collaboration,…) by highlighting the contrast between new industrial components and the recent appeal to craftsmanship.

We developed a furniture system with compact and removable abilities due to the profile structure and its material property. By minimizing building components, simplifying and standardizing connection details, each part can be easily assembled and disassembled. This enables to rationalize transport, storage and responding to practical needs of indoor/outdoor.

In addition to flat-pack logic, ready-made and mass-produced profiles avoid adding nearly any post-production features reducing manufacturing steps. It also encourages participation in short distance supply chains, encouraging to design global but produce locally.

Using semi-fabricated products as a structure or joinery enables us to skip one production phase and reduce ecological impact. Its interchangeability and durability make it a perfect structural component to be reused in different context delaying the recycling phase. The goal is to :

1. Maximize ease and efficiency of construction
2. Maximize ease and efficiency of deconstruction
3. Create a system in which we may reuse entire fragments of the product

The development of the sittings and upholstery works across collaborations based on offcuts with carpenters, upcycling plastic industries and fashion designers.

Through a consistent furniture collection related to cultural, social and economic trends, Amai tries to bring other perspectives and contribute to the debate.
