Oslo, Norway (December, 2021) — Four decades after it all began, the story of a runaway hit and how it turned three Norwegian lads into international superstars will be told when a-ha: The Movie opens in major markets this April during the band’s worldwide tour. Spanning 14 countries, the tour will include a-ha’s first stateside concerts in over a decade when they perform in Los Angeles and New York in conjunction with the film’s debut. The critically-acclaimed documentary chronicles the group’s remarkable rise to fame, boundless ambition, fractured friendships and an unwavering love of their craft that has kept them wildly popular throughout the world long after “Take On Me” hit the top of the charts. Since 1985, a-ha has continued to fill arenas around the globe, released 15 albums that have sold more than 55 million copies, won eight MTV Awards, earned both a Grammy and an American Music Award nomination, held a Guinness World Record and were granted knighthoods. Directed by Thomas Robsahm and distributed in the US by Lightyear Entertainment, a-ha: The Movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2021 to rave reviews and opens in New York, Los Angeles and additional markets across the US starting April 8.
