The Cilia Dance – pilot performance, 25 September 2021
FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:
The Cilia Dance is new outdoor performance by The Bicycle Ballet, commissioned by Brighton & Hove City Council for Car Free Day & the city’s build up to COP26.
It also marked the 15th anniversary of the original Bicycle Ballet performance in 2006. Since then we have created & toured six other works, engaging, entertaining & interrupting the way people think about cycling.
The Cilia Dance aims to more directly encourage transport behaviour change, in a high impact performance co-created & performed by local participants.
The piece is conceived as a ‚conversation,‘ using the language of movement, instead of words, to explore how participants travel around. Inspired by Pina Bausch’s Nelken Line, perfomers walk whilst repeating sequences of movements; & the clusters, lines & rhythmical movements of Cilia, the microscopic hairlike structures lining the respiratory tract & lungs.
