300 hours the film & FESCH.TV:

inspired by hip-hop and trap music, 300 hours is a vertical film directed, shot, and edited by 3 young black men from brooklyn, new york. this creative expression is made by and for black youth at the center of the ongoing art movement taking place in new york city.

300 hours is set in binghamton, new york within the multi studios apartment shared by robert provilus and jabari brxwne. the film follows robert through his tentative journey as he constructs and completes 3 masterful paintings- whilst being filmed by two close friends. 300 hours features 3 different visual mediums (super 8mm, VHS & digital) and is a culmination of an entire year’s worth of footage (july 2021- september 2022). due to the fact that robert and jabari were both college students during the filming process, nicolas johnson (a.k.a wonder) would regularly make a 3-hour commute from brooklyn to binghamton during school breaks and weekends to film.

the soundtrack for 300 hours exclusively features music from young “up and coming” black artists. each song has been carefully chosen to embody a unique section of the film. the film also debuts an original score composed by the brooklyn based producer bountyhunter. the directors of the film made a conscious effort to heavily include local artists in order to uplift the black creatives within their own community.

jabari brxwne is a photographer, videographer and creative director born and raised in bedford-stuyvesant, brooklyn. while jabari has always been a creative person, the 2020 lockdown allowed him to hone his skills in the arts and earn a bachelor’s degree in future media from binghamton university. his subject matter heavily pertains to the black experience in america and contributing to the burgeoning art movement taking place in NYC. jabari aspires to use his lens and his creative vision to capture the multi dimensionality of black youth in america.

robert provilus is an interdisciplinary artist, fashion designer, and creative director of Haitian descent born and raised in canarsie brooklyn. after earning a bachelor’s degree in medical art he is debuting his career as a visual artist in the medium of oil paints. his work is an effort to create something that would inspire younger individuals like himself. speaking directly to a generation of young black dreamers and visionaries who were rarely reflected in the contemporary fine art world. his work enters the art world as a pure representation of the attitude, culture, style, and spirit that persists among young dreamers and visionaries across the black diaspora.

nicolas johnson is a director, cinematographer, and editor born and raised in brooklyn, new york. the multidisciplinary creative aims to capture the essence of the black community through his work. expressing the celebration and visual depiction of the black diaspora with visual connections to contemporary black culture. nicolas’s work channels black expression to serve as an outlet that authentically represents community. in his collaboration on 300 hours, nicolas knew that the project would be a testament to the creative expression and individuality expressed by this generation’s emerging art scene.

all expenses for the film have been paid out of pocket by recent college graduates. so any and all donations are greatly appreciated!
