„2 Miles Unchanged“ | 2021 Concept Trailer

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

In January 2014 I was introduced to a two mile stretch of road called Train Avenue on Cleveland’s westside after an acquaintance routinely made discoveries of deceased dogs found dumped in garbage bags along it. A documentary film was born that day, appropriately titled – „Train Ave“.

A couple months later, the project was put on indefinite hold, only to resume production again years later in 2018. After spending the next three years shooting the remaining footage, and editing in post-production, the full feature documentary film was finally completed. But, once again an unforeseen circumstance derailed the project and prohibited its public release earlier this year (2021).

It was devastating because I felt the film had the ability to shine a spotlight on an area of the city that is desperate for attention, because not only is it a place where dead dogs are discarded, but it’s been a known illegal dumping ground for over a century. And, there are the human bodies that occasionally are discovered, that should make anybody wonder – how does this even happen?

Over the last 7-8 months since it was announced the original film’s release would not happen, there have been three dead bodies found. And, the garbage being dumped without consequence remains status quo.

I invested $15,000 of my own money – not including the years and years of extensive research on the history of the road, and all that time spent shooting, conducting interviews and editing that first film. I also hired a talented composer to write original music for the soundtrack, and that alone was beautiful. For all the above reasons and more, a week or two ago I made my intentions known publicly that I would not let it all go to waste.

Even though this new film project with a working title „2 Miles Unchanged“ will be similar to the former in some respects, it will indeed be a completely different film. The above video is a Concept Trailer, which is basically an idea of what the general film will be once production starts. Which brings me to – I am going to be conducting new interviews, and I will be able to expound further on some of the sub-topics that I wasn’t able to in the former project. Now, it will be the film it was probably always supposed to be.

With that said, this Patreon page began as a way to gain support from subscribers who contribute to a monthly perk that comes with incentives for the doc-series „Once In A Lifetime“. Those incentives are still going to be given, but I reached a point in editing that I have to scale back some until I am able to travel and complete the nationwide interviews I still need. So, I will be dividing my time between both projects.

I may periodically include some „2 Miles Unchanged“ posts for the Patreon subscribers, because it is an interesting topic, that isn’t unique to Train Avenue or Cleveland, Ohio. Every major city has their own Train Avenue, where things happen that shouldn’t.

Environmental Justice is Social Justice.
